Welcome to the Home Page of the Streatham Vale
Property Occupiers’ Association [SVPOA] which represents
some 2000 residents in Streatham Vale. We hope you will
enjoy your visit and will come back again from time to
time as the content will be regularly updated with
campaign notes, articles from our monthly newsletter,
Vale Topics, and information on our activities.
|
You will see as you look around the site that we
promote or support a wide range of activities. We
have our own allotments, hold two flower and
vegetable shows each year, are active in protecting
the environment of Streatham Vale through our
Environmental Committee and Neighbourhood Watch and organise
campaigns on a wide range of issues important to the
area. We also support the Friends of
Streatham Vale
Park in their work to maintain the
Park as a valuable local amenity open to all.

We publish ‘Vale Topics’, a monthly
newsletter and selected articles from past editions
are regularly published or updated on this website. The newsletter is distributed to members
through our local Road Stewards organisation covering 36
roads in Streatham Vale and members are able to contact
the Committee through their local Road Steward or
through our email service at
SVPOA@yahoo.co.uk or on Neighbourhood Watch issues
on NWSV@yahoo.co.uk
.
One of our greatest priorities is to preserve the
genuine ‘village’ atmosphere of Streatham Vale, almost
unique in South London, by supporting and assisting
local trades and services where we can and opposing
developments and proposals which we consider to be
damaging to the area. A quick look at the
History of the
Association shows that we have been
continuously active in pursuing our ideals since the
Vale was built in 1925 and we will certainly continue to
do so, not just for the present, but for the foreseeable
future. |
We welcome new members and have provided a downloadable
application form on this website. Our
current annual subscription is £3.00.
Please feel free to look around the site and, if you
have any constructive comments about improvements we
could introduce, email us at
SVPOA@yahoo.co.uk
.
All emails
will be answered. If you are a member please do not
forget to include your name and address. Articles
for publication in Vale Topics may also be sent by
this means or directly to the Editor.
